Call to stop incessant executions in Iran
In the first six months of 2017, at least 238 executions were carried out in Iran, including 12 public hangings, seven women and three juvenile offenders.
129 were executed for drug-related offences while 5,000 remain on death row on similar charges.
These executions are in contravention of International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Since the beginning of July, Iran has seen a new wave of executions.
A total of 19 executions were carried out in the period from 1 to 5 July including two in public.
Iran Human Rights Monitor urges all international human rights organizations particularly the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran to take urgent and effective measures to halt executions and save the lives of death row prisoners.
