ANALYSIS: How to cripple the Iranian regime and help its people

The US administration taking significant measures to re-impose sanctions on Iran’s regime aims to reach a variety of objectives. Crippling sanctions are being implemented on Tehran and there are methods to pinpoint these efforts against the regime and in fact support the Iranian people’s strive for freedom and democracy.

One very effective initiative is severing all access for Iranian banks to SWIFT, or the Society for the Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication.

These actions have the potential of exerting crippling economic and financial pressure Tehran, including exerting unprecedented damages to the regime’s trade relations and import/export process.

Iran’s Ayatollah: ‘The U.S. Is, in the Real Sense of the Word, the Main Evil Enemy’

The Supreme Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Thursday that the United States is, “in the real sense of the word,” the number one enemy of the Islamic Republic.

“The US is, in the real sense of the word, the main evil enemy,” Khamenei said while speaking to a group of Iranian students ahead of the November 4 ceremonies marking the “National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance,” according to Iran’s state-run Press TV. “This reality stems from true understanding of issues and the facts on the ground, not from prejudice and pessimism,” he claimed.

President Trump has repeatedly called the Iran nuclear agreement (or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action), which was embraced by former President Barack Obama, “the worst deal ever negotiated.”

“As you witnessed recently, the head of US administration said the Iranian nation is a ‘terrorist nation,'” Khamenei reportedly said, referring back to President Donald Trump authorizing the Treasury Department to list Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) — known as Sepah-e Pasdaran-e Enqelab-e Eslami in Persian — as a terrorist organization.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif: Iranians Are ‘All IRGC’

Less than 24 hours after the U.S. Department of Treasurysanctioned Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif claimed, “Iranians–boys, girls, men, women–are ALL IRGC.”

However, many Iranians – both living in the Islamic Republic and throughout the world – disagreed and rejected Zarif’s claim, creating the #WeRejectIRGC hashtag on Twitter in response. Some stated, contrary to Zarif’s tweet, that it is the IRGC that carries out acts of terror, both directly and through its proxies throughout the Middle East.

The IRGC boasts a long history of attacks against Iranians:

• 1990: On March 14, 1990, the IRGC attempted to assassinate Hossein Abedini, an Iranian parliamentarian in exile and a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). The IRGC operatives blocked the vehicle he and his driver were in on his way to the Istanbul Airport in Turkey. Abedini was shot and went into a coma for 40 days. He ultimately survived the attack.
• 1990: On April 24, 1990, 13 Iranian terrorists carrying service passports issued by the Iranian Foreign Ministry assassinated Professor Kazem Rajabi, the representative of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), by gunning him down near his home in Geneva, Switzerland.
