Iran, February 1, 2018 – Groups of brave protesters in 7 major cities including Tehran, Isfahan, Sanandaj, Rasht, Kermanshah, Zarrin- and  in addition to other towns demonstrated on Thursday, February 1, chanting 'Death to Khamenei', referring to Iran's Supreme leader, and 'Death to the Dictator.' There were clashes reported in some of these cities between the protesters and the State Security force. 
Demonstrators in Isfahan said that some protesters set fire to the security forces' motorcycles.

Family Of Political Prisoner Warned Against Following Up Son’s Prison Leave

Following a request from the father of political prisoner Maher Ka’bi from the Shush district court for a prison leave for his son, the Intelligence Agency called the family threatening them not to follow up such a request. “Are we supposed to send your son to a hotel?!” agents said, taunting the family. This is while the political prisoner has been imprisoned in Ardebil, which is far away from his home. He is detained in a very isolated section with minimum facilities. Maher Ka’bi, who is now 25 years old, was arrested at 19. He was charged with acting against national security and being a member of the Ahwaz Liberation Organization and was sentenced to 10 years of prison in exile. According to those close to him, he was not affiliated with any organization. His brother Ahmed Ka’bi is also detained in Kerman Prison. The two brothers were severely tortured when arrested. The tortures have led to severe back problems for Ahmad, to the extent that he cannot stand on his legs for even 10 minutes.

Burning Khamenei’s Image; Protests by Plundered People and Poor Kurdish Porters

1. On Saturday, January 20, several people from Robat Karim (Tehran Province) protested against high prices. The protesters, a major part of whom were women, chanted slogans against the regime.

In order to intimidate and disperse the crowd, the law enforcement criminal agents ran over by a car a lady who was protesting against plundering her deposits. The same criminal method was carried out in Ahwaz during the first days of the uprising during which the regime’s criminals ran over the people with a truck.

2 On the same day, in Ahwaz, deprived farmers, whose lands had been looted by the regime’s false promises, protested outside the Amir Kabir Sugarcane Development Company in Ahwaz. Their demand was to work on their own lands that had been looted. The riot guard attacked them with Baton.

3. Also, a number of workers from the Mahshahr municipality gathered outside the city's municipality in protest of the non-payment of their monthly salaries.

4. The protest gathering by a group of workers at the Kian Kurd Factory in Malayer, which started last week in protest against the failure to pay six months of overdue salaries and the failure to pay for the 2017-2017 gift, continues.

The new Trump administration in Washington is still grappling with the extent to which it is obligated to uphold the illegitimate Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) -- the nuclear deal that the five members of the UN Security Council plus Germany signed with each other in July 2015, and apparently never signed by Iran.

While the Trump administration is saying that military action is not off the table, grassroots efforts by Iranian expatriates to help their brethren inside the Iran to topple their repressive regime have been underway.
